Our extensive training, education and knowledge of various dance styles allow us to bring a multidisciplinary approach to our student body. Additionally, our evidence-based interventions are a platform to serve the special needs community.

Creative Movement
at our Jefferson Street Studio location

At Studio AM we offer a nurturing environment where children can convey their emotions through music, dance, and other art forms. This Creative Movement class develops a child’s social, physical, and intellectual skills. It is composed of a ballet/jazz fusion that incorporates the basic fundamentals of dance into creative self-exploration and interactions with peers.

At Studio AM we offer our toddlers and preschoolers the opportunity to explore self-expression through dramatic play while introducing them to the fundamentals of Ballet.
Meet the Directors
Adela Merida
Adela is the co-founder and Director of Studio AM. A passionate dancer and therapist, Adela holds a B.A. in Dance and a B.S. in Exercise Science & Sports Studies from Rutgers University. She would then combine her love for science and movement earning a degree in Occupational Therapy as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, COTA/L. Adela’s knowledge of dance and occupational therapy bring a multidisciplinary approach to her students, and the opportunity for the special needs community to be inclusive while learning about the art of dance. Adela’s training started at the age of 3 and includes Flamenco, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, and Bellydancing. Through dance Adela learned discipline, commitment & determination, she is thrilled to provide the tools dance offered her and share it with all kinds of learners.
Adela is a member of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, other certifications include Brain Gym, PuzzleArt Therapy, Visual Tools for Children with Autism and The Benefits of Mindfulness for School-Based Therapists.
Allyn Merida
Allyn is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Studio AM. Allyn is a passionate dance educator and award-winning choreographer known for her unique ability to connect with students and elevate them to their highest potential. Allyn graduated from Rowan University, earning her B.A. in Theatre & Dance and has performed at a multitude of venues from NJPAC and Madison Square Garden, to international fringe festivals and So You Think You Can Dance? Allyn’s dance training started at the age of 4 and covers Flamenco, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, Contemporary, and Acro. Allyn’s innovative approach to teaching cultivates an empowering and collaborative learning environment. She is excited to continue her practice of life-long-learning alongside her students at Studio AM.
